The Women in STEM Scholarships are funded by the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences as part of our commitment to increasing the representation of women working in and studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) subjects. The scholarships are designed to offer financial assistance to outstanding female* candidates throughout their undergraduate programme (for a maximum of three years of study) and to introduce them to various initiatives and activities taking place across the university in response to the issue. The Faculty expects scholarship holders to contribute to these initiatives and be an active participant in such events and activities.
We particularly welcome applications from Black and Mixed Black Heritage students to further improve the representation of these groups in STEM as well.
Award value
Up to three successful applicants will each receive £1,000 per year that they are enrolled on an undergraduate programme in the Faculty for a maximum of three years of study (excluding the fourth year of MSci or MEng programmes), for 2025-26 onwards.
Eligibility criteria
Applications are open to Home fee status students who meet the eligibility criteria listed below.
To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, applicants must:
be a female applicant or current student in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences studying an undergraduate programme in the Departments of Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics, Physics or Engineering.
hold an offer of a place at King's for entry in September 2025.
be starting your first undergraduate degree programme in September 2025.
be home fee status.
have been means-tested with a final assessed household income of £42,875 or less.
The deadline for applications is 11pm on 30 June 2025.
