Our International Sports Scholarship Programme is one of the largest high performance sports programmes in the UK.

The University of Stirling provides the ideal environment for talented athletes to develop and flourish in their chosen sport, providing expert support and a comprehensive collection of world-class facilities set on our scenic campus.

Our International Sports Scholarship Programme is one of the largest high-performance sports programmes in the UK and has supported more than 700 student athletes since its inception in 1981, sending athletes to Olympic, World and Commonwealth Games.

Eligibility and availability

We offer sports scholarships to talented student athletes helping them to fulfil their potential.

We support students competing in our core sports, listed below, and other sports if at an international level*:

Our core sports are:

  • football

  • golf

  • swimming

  • tennis

  • triathlon

  • curling

Students receive: funding support, academic flexibility, national standard coaching, essential equipment and opportunity to stay on campus.

*Other sports must feature in BUCS, Commonwealth, Olympic or Paralympic programmes.
